Anyway, I didn't want to buy a pin cushion just to have one, I wanted to buy one I really, really liked. That's pretty much how I decide all purchases...if I don't love it, I don't buy it. I guess you could say I'm not really loving the tomatoes right now.
So I made my own instead. Best part is I only had to buy a small pot--everything else I already had. So, for 98 cents, I have a very custom pin cushion that works marvelously, I might add.
If you made it this far, you're in great shape!....cuz...um, that's all. Pretty simple, huh??
What you need:
- 3-inch clay pot (98 cents at Home Depot)
- Fabric (mine was 7"x7")
- Ribbon (optional...this is for decoration, so decorate yours with whatever suits your taste)
- Polyfill....this is where mine goes another direction. I didn't happen to have polyfill, so I improvised with two mateless socks, a rubberband and a piece of felt (to smooth over any bumps in the socks)
- Glue gun
- Paint (again, optional...this is for your pot if you don't like the clay look)
The pictures are pretty much self-explanatory from here, just know that I'm wrapping one sock within another, gluing, wrapping, gluing and wrapping...then gluing some more.

Good lord Alina, you are so crafty! I'm ubber jealous of your skills.
ReplyDeleteFun idea!
ReplyDeleteTwo thoughts:
1) I want a sewing machine. Not sure if I would ever use it.
2) I can totally relate - It must be an ISTJ thing not to buy stuff unless you really, really like it (unless friends pressure you into buying it).
Yet another creative use of what you have! And another cute use for that darling fabric. I'm impressed. Oh, and um...I want one.
