A couple of weeks ago, I saw the following status on a friend's facebook:
Pay it Forward in 2011: I promise to send something handmade to the first 5 people who leave a comment here. They must, in turn, post this & send something they make to the first 5 people who comment on their status. The rules are that it must be handmade by you and it must be sent to your 5 people in 2011.Luckily, I was the fifth person to comment on her status (and she's already made me a sweet little zippered pouch with my name on it--thanks, Shelly!).
So I re-posted to my own status and quickly had my five responders (actually ended up with six finalists because of some confusion on what the status actually meant) and this is the first of those projects!
Miss Kelly Barton requested one of my cake stands. Not only was I happy to make one for her, but I was also ecstatic knowing I couldn't make anything more appropriate for her. You see, Kelly makes cupcakes. Lots and lots of cupcakes. Cupcakes galore. But they aren't just your average, run-of-the-mill cupcakes. No, they are the kinds of cupcakes that you dream about. Let me give you a few examples...
German Chocolate with chocolate coating, cocoa whipped icing, topped with pecans and caramel (and they're filled!)
Cinnamon Churro Cupcake: cinnamon cupcake with vanilla cream, topped with homemade cinnamon-sugar chip and a honey glaze. Aye-yi-yi!!!
And finally...Chocolate Peppermint Mocha cupcakes for Christmas. I just died and went to cupcake heaven.
So now you understand why a cake stand couldn't be a better gift for miss Kelly. If you live in the Wichita area, please contact me for information on having Kelly cater her cupcakes to your next party, girls night, wedding...anything you can imagine. She's constantly coming up with new ideas (last week she made blueberry cupcakes with cinnamon buttercream, complete with gold sprinkles and a blueberry on top!) and I consider my waistline lucky to live in KC at this point.
Happy birthday Kelly girl!
