Engagement Photos

Almost two years ago, I was a bridesmaid in a friend's wedding. Her photographer was Jackie Cooper of Jackie Cooper Photo. And, simply put, I was blown away by her attitude, spirit, creativity, general happiness and energy. After having seen her work and working with her personally, I told her I wanted her to photograph my wedding...and I was single at the time! I'm not one of those girls who has dreamed of her wedding since she was a little girl. Simply put, I knew I'd "figure it out when I got there." But when my time came, I knew one thing was for sure: I wanted Jackie Cooper.

So when she agreed to travel all the way from Colorado on her Christmas break to do it, I was ecstatic. Seriously. I did a happy dance in my room...then into the hallway...into the kitchen...and ended in the living room in front of a very perplexed puppy.

So without further ado, here are my top favorite photos (not all of my favorites...my top favorite photos...I'm so in love with all of them!) from our engagement session with her. You can also check out the blog post she wrote here!

If you've read our story, you'll remember that we both showed up on our first date (blind date!) at a local coffeehouse wearing yellow. Coincidentally (sort of...), we were wearing the same outfits when we got engaged in May. So, it was only fitting that we start our shoot at a coffee shop (the same one we went our third date!) in our yellow.

I was so elated to find a random shape-of-Texas in cement on a brick wall. :)

We made shadows of our initials and our wedding date using cardboard cut-outs I made. I'm so happy with how they turned out! (Tutorial coming on Wednesday!)

I can't wait to be this man's wife!

Thanks, Jackie Cooper...you're simply the best. I can't wait for you to be a part of our big day!
